摘   要:

The existing airport in Seoul has almost reached operational capacity due to increased air traffic as a consequence of rapid economic development. This has led to the demand for a new international airport to service Korea and East Asia. The new Inchon International Airport is being constructed on Yong Jong Island on the west coast of Korea and the Yong Jong Grand Bridge is part of new road and rail links connecting Seoul to the new airport. The main design considerations for the bridge were function, symbolic expression of Korean culture and visual harmony with its surrounding environment. The Grand Bridge has double decks to carry a six-lane highway on upper deck and a four-lane highway and two rail lines on the lower deck. The main feature of the Grand Bridge is the three-span continuous self-anchored suspension bridge part.
