Reliability acceptance sampling procedures characterized with compound class of exponential–logarithmic distribution

Reliability sampling plans are the sampling inspection procedures used in determining the disposition of the lot(s) of products when the lifetime of the products is considered as a significant quality characteristic. In order to know the lifetime of the products, life tests are performed assuming that the items follow specific continuous lifetime probability distributions and their reliability sampling plans are available in the previous literature. Life tests are conducted under different censoring schemes, such as the time-censoring in which the experiment is performed until a pre-specified time, failure-censoring where the test is terminated upon the occurrence of pre-assigned number of failures, progressive-censoring in which the surviving units are to be removed other than the termination point, and hybrid-censoring which is a combination of both type I and type II censoring. There are many continuous probability distributions, which are used to model the lifetime data and compound distributions are arrived when mixing these distributions characterized by their unique properties. In this study, a procedure for designing reliability single sampling plan based on exponential–logarithmic (EL) compound distribution as the lifetime distribution is developed satisfying both the producer and consumer’s risks. Evaluation based on the mean life criterion has been adopted and values are also computed.
