While aldimines have been selectively oxidized to nitrones in TiO"2 suspended acetonitrile solution in the presence of O"2 upon irradiation, nitrones are reduced to their deoxygenated derivatives with retention of C=N by TiO"2 photocatalysis under a nitrogen atmosphere.
