Fine particle perovskite oxides such as LnCrO3 (where Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Dy, Gd, and Y), La1-xSrxMnO3 (x = 0.0 to 0.5), LaCoO3, and LaNiO3 have been prepared by the combustion of corresponding metal nitrate-tetraformal trisazine (TFTA) mixtures at 350°C/500°C in a few minutes under ambient conditions. The oxides are of submicrometer size with specific surface area ranging from 3-20 m2/g. The oxides have been characterized further by TEM and SEM studies. Sintering of LaCrO3 at 1500°C for 2 hr resulted in 85% (5.2 g/cm3) of the theoretical density.
